Constant Omari Sulemani has retained his seat as president of DR Congo FA (FECOFA) after being reelected unopposed for another four-year term during the federation’s elective assembly Saturday in Kinshasa.
Twenty eight delegates representing provincial and national leagues and four clubs that participated in the CAF interclub competitions (TP Mazembe, AS Vita Club, Sanga Balende and Renaissance), voted with Omari sweeping all the votes.
His would be opponent Jean Claude Mwamba, who is journalist by profession, did not go past the vetting stage.
Omari’s two deputies Roger Bobo Bondembe and Theobald Ninamungu, who were also unchallenged, retained their seats but not with a 100% mandate.
Omari, 59, was first elected FECOFA boss in 2005 and has now been reelected for the fifth time on the trot.
The CAF’s second Vice President is professionally a civil engineer specializing in Railways Engineering.
He is the Director General of the Port Department of Kinshasa.
Omari has also been FIFA Council member since 2005 and has held several positions at CAF including Executive Committee, Organizing Committee of the AFCON and Interclub Competitions member.
A new Executive Committee of FECOFA comprising six vice presidents and six members was also elected.
