The Zambia Women National Team completed their final training session at Complexe Benjelloun in Casablanca as they prepared for the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group B opener against Cameroon set for Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, the team familiarized themselves with the field at Mohammed V stadium, the venue match against the Indomitable Lionesses that will kick-off at 19h00CAT.
Goalkeeper Hazel Nali said the team was ready for the WAFCON, was adequately prepared and everyone was excited ahead of the tournament.
“The team is ready; we have prepared adequately and we are here because we qualified. Everyone is excited and ready for tomorrow,” Nali said.
The Copper Queens will be without inspiration skipper Barbara Banda for the duration of the competition due to medical reasons.
After the match against Cameroon, Zambia’s next Group B engagement will be against north Africans Tunisia on 6 July before a group B wrap-up match against Togo on 9 July.
The top four teams at the 12-team tournament being held in Morocco will earn automatic tickets to the 2023 New Zealand/Australia FIFA Women’s World Cup while two more teams at the Tournament will book their places at the inter-continental play-offs.
