Copper Queens striker Xiomara Mapepa is off to Sweden to attend trials at top Club Djurgardens IF.
The Elite Ladies FC striker was top scorer in the FAZ Women’s National League with 17 goals and featured in five out of six matches for the Copper Queens at the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
She scored in the 4-1 humiliation of debutants Togo as Zambia went on to beat Nigeria 1-0 to win the bronze medal match at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
Pro Sport International and Kinetic Sports Consultants have collaborated to facilitate for Mapepa’s passage to the Stockholm based side. The men’s team is home to Chipolopolo midfielder Emmanuel Banda.
The speedy winger will be hoping to become the Copper Queens latest export to Europe following in the likes of Prisca Chilufya, Rachael Kundananji, Rachael Nachula, Grace Chanda, Hellen Mubanga and Misozi Zulu among others.
