The 2017 edition Senior Cosafa Cup tournament drawn was done today. The tournament will be staged in the North Western Province of South Africa starting on the 25th of June and ending on 9th of July.
Based on the current Fifa rankings as has happened in the recent years. Higher ranked teams will only join the tournament at quarter final stage
This year’s tournament will solely be competed by mere Cosafa members. Last year Congo Democratic Republic was the invited guest.
The preliminary stage has been split into two groups. That will play a round robin matches to decide group winner who in turn will progress to the quater finals.
Group A has teams in the mould of Malawi, Mauritius and Angola. While group B has Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Madagascar and The Seychelles.
The group A winners will then meet hosts South Africa in the quater finals and the winners in group B will face Swaziland at the same stage. These meetings will decide who qualify to join the winners between Zambia and Botswana and that of Namibia versus Lesotho in the semi finals.
The final is slated for the 9th of July.
