Sudan were held to a 1-1 draw by Mauritius in one of the group phase matches of the ongoing Cosafa U-20 Championships in South Africa on Saturday.
Sudan drew the first blood when Hassan Hassan scored his first goal of the tournament in the 36th minute at the Mogwase Stadium, but the Sudanese were somewhat too anxious in front of goal and missed several chances.
Mauritius drew level fifteen minutes before the end when Marcus Dimasse sent a screamer from rhe center circle.
In the better part of the match Sudan piled much pressure on their counterparts, but the Mauritius were well organized at the rear and kept the scoreline even.
Hasaberlrasol should have added another for Sudan in the 67thminute but failed to connect a cross by Hassan, and in the the 77 minute, substitute Arshin came close at the other end, but goalkeeper Nany timed his run well.
A brilliant move by Eldadni pierced the Mauritius defence with two minutes left, only for Hasaan to fluff the opportunity with Humiedan unmarked behind him.
On the dot of time, penalty appeals by Mauritius were waived away by the referee after Saramandif was upended in the box by the Sudan goalkeeper.
