Radio Africa company owners of Bamba Sport failed in their bid to stop the Kenyan Premier league FTA and PAY TV broadcasters tender opening process from going on Friday 8 December 2017 as scheduled.
In a fresh twist of events Radio Africa presented the Kenyan Premier league certificate of urgency court papers on Thursday 7th December 2017 at midday just hours to the court case on the 8 December 2017 scheduled for 9am.
However KPL through their lawyer Mwangi Njeru burned the midnight oil and by 1am were able to prepare their response which was presented to the court on Friday with justice Onguto hearing the certificate of urgency filled by Radio Africa.
Even before Judge Onguto looked at the merits and demerits of the case he questioned the motive of Radio Jambo(Bamba Sport )bring the case to stop the tender opening process on the actual day of the opening yet the tender process had been announced on November 16,2017.
Radio Jambo (Bamba Sport) bid to have KPL opening tender bids was thwarted by Judge Onguto who declined the request for certificate of and asked Kenyan premier league to proceed with the tendering process.
The irony is that while all this was going on MediaPro the production company contracted by KPL to produce their matches were already in town with 2 of their 40 feet latest HD Outside Broadcast vans already in Mombasa awaiting clearance from the port.
Following Judge Onguto’s decision KPL tender opening process proceeded as planned and winning bidders for both Free to Air(FTA) and Pay Tv will be known next week on Tuesday 12th December 2017.The broadcaster will be the beneficiaries of KPL matches produced by MediaPro a Spanish company contracted by KPL.

LaLiga’s deal with KPL entailed sharing their proficiency in professional football management, offer live screening for key LaLiga games for the fans, set up match analysis centers, co-ordinate off-season football tournaments, and also involve Kenyan players in regular exchange programs with their counterparts from Spain.
