The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have confirmed that no football activities will be held in the country until September at the earliest, thereby cancelling the remainder of the 2019/220 Ghana Premier League and Division One League.
This comes on the heels of a lengthy meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Secretariat in Accra.
The National Division One League, Division Two League and Women’s Premier League have also been terminated.
President Nana Addo in his late address on May 31 extended the ban on all contact sports by two months.
“I have by order of executive instrument, provided for these new directions and extended the suspension of the remaining public gatherings as set out in EI.64 of 16th March until 31st July,” The President said.
He added:”In here, i refer to the suspension of sporting events, night clubs, cinemas, drinking spots, bars, beaches, festivals, funerals, political rallies and large religious gatherings such as crusades and conventions.”
Non-contacts Sports such as Tennis, Golf, Dart, Swimming, Cricket, Diving, Badminton, Sprinting, Body Building, Track and Field have been allowed to take place.
Sporting activities in the country was brought to a halt since March 15 as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus.
Medeama SC were leading the log when the league was halted sitting two points, clear of second-placed Aduana Stars who’s locked on twenty-eight points.
