Covid-19: Lesotho suspend Football activities for two weeks

The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has suspended all football activities in the country for 14 days in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

LeFA announced in statement that it has reached an agreement with it’s stakeholders to suspend the football season in Lesotho with the hope that all leagues shall commence during the weekend of the 4th and 5th April 2020 from where they are currently at.

In a joint meeting held on Monday 16th March 2020 between the National Executive Committee of the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) and the Premier League Management Committee in conjunction with the other League Management Committees reached at the following decisions in light of the widespread Corona Virus (COVID ’19) pandemic.

The country’s governing body resolved that all leagues under the auspices of the Lesotho Football Association be suspended for the next two weeks effective from Monday March 16th 2020 and until March 31st 2020,

“LeFA and the League Management Committees shall during two weeks monitor the situation both locally and internationally before making the decision the recommence the leagues or extend the suspension based what the developments will be.

“In the meantime, the Association and the League Management Committees advise the teams to suspend training sessions as a measure to tread on the right side of caution. And that players be encouraged to train on their own during this period.”

LeFA emphasized that these measures taken are in the best interest of the sponsors, players, coaches, officials the fans and supporters. The Association wishes to apologize to the football fraternity and the public at large for the inconvenience that will be caused.
