Crystal Palace are considering a surprise move for highly-rated Kenya international goalkeeper Arnold Origi after being impressed by the goalkeeper’s form at Lillestrom.
Roy Hodgson is on the hunt for a stopper amid fears he could be left short for back-up to Wayne Hennessey.
Julius Seproni now 38 has been told his future is on hold after playing second fiddle to Hennessey for close to three seasons.
Origi, 34, has impressed in Norway over the last couple of seasons and was named the star of Lillestrom’s 3-2 cup final win over Sarpsborg last month and is seen as possible option to fill the void.
Reports in The Sun indicate that Lillestrom coach Arne Erlandsen is aware of the development,
“I think Arnold has played his last game for us. We wish him luck with his career.
“I hope he finds a club where he gets what he wants.”
However, Lillestrom sports director Simon Mesfin has claimed that the goalkeeper is headed to Selhurst Park on trial.
“Arnold is not training with us because he has requested permission to work out with a club in England. He is there for an indefinite period,” claimed Mesfin.
The former Mathare FC and Tusker FC custodian went to Norway in 2007 where he has played for various clubs there before applying for Norwegian citizenship late last year.
