CAF Champions League winners TP Mazembe will face Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup in Osaka this coming Sunday.
This after Hiroshima defeated Auckland City FC 2-0 in the playoff section of the annual competition on Thursday to set up a clash with the DR Congo giants.
The Japanese side scored their goals through Yusuke Minagwa in the ninth minute and Tsukasa Shiotani in the 70th minute.
DRC giants Mazembe, who famously reached the final of the 2010 CWC, will look to overcome their Japanese opponents on Sunday to set up a meeting with South American champions River Plate of Argentina in the semifinals.
The other quarterfinal on Sunday sees Mexican side America tackle China’s Guangzhou Evergrande, with the winners set to face UEFA Champions League winners Barcelona in the semis.
