Acakoro Ladies will defend their Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Nairobi regional title in Sunday’s final against season 1 champs Beijing Raiders at the Jamhuri High School grounds.
Acakoro hammered St. Anne’s Eaglets 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. A brace each from Catherine Omondi and Sylvia Makhungu sent the Korogocho based side to the final.
At the same venue, Beijing Raiders emerged 3-0 winners against newcomers Kabagare girls to seal the blockbuster tie.
The winner of the tournament pockets KES 200,000 and will represent the region in the national finals slated for June 6 – 7 at Bomu stadium, Changamwe.
Sixteen best players from all the regions will be selected to attend a 10 day training in Spain where they will play friendly matches with La Liga academies.
At Jamhuri High School, a 26th minute strike from Mutheu Martha put the former champs ahead to hand them the 1-0 lead at half time despite their unrelenting attacks on the opposition’s goal mouth.
The goals kept coming. Raiders skipper Toby Maximilla doubled in the 69th before her second in the 80th to wrap up a fine afternoon for her team.
