The dates have finally being released for the long waited Econet Lesotho Premier League as the defending champions Bantu will begin their campaign at home against Sefotha-fotha at the National Stadium on 15th September.

The League will start approximately three weeks after its normal time as the Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) was preparing for their executive committee elections which will be held next week.

According to PLMC spokesperson Lekholoa Mosito the League was also delayed to accommodate the senior national team (Likuena) which will be playing Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matches against Uganda (away) on 5th September before hosting the same opponents in Maseru four days later.

“The national team will be playing in action in early September so it didn’t make sense to start the league only for it to be paused a week later because the national team will be playing here at home,” said Mosito.

“We will also be going for executive elections on the 17th this month, so it was decided that League start a bit later to give the new committee enough time to prepare before the games starts.”

Econet Telecom Lesotho will be in their second term of six million sponsorship deal that will run for three years to see League winners pocketing half a million Maluti which is equivalent to (500 000 ZAR)
