Black Stars Head coach, Kwesi Appiah has handed defender Rashid Sumaila a late call-up to join the Black Stars for their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier vs Kenya.

Sumaila, who is on loan at Red Star Belgrade from Al Qadsia received the invite due an injury to Kasim Nuhu.

Nuhu picked up an ankle injury in TSG Hoffeinham 3-1 Home win against Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. He was rushed to the hospital following the setback.

Nuhu joined TSG Hoffeinham from Swiss side Young Boys on a 5-year deal for a fee of €8 million in July.

The 23-year-old center-back has been capped twice and score just once.

Kwesi Appiah had earlier lost defender John Boye through injury on Wednesday and left with no options than to invite the former Asante Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs guardsman.

Sumaila will join the Black Stars squad in Addis Ababa on Monday where they will hold a four day camping before flying to Nairobi for the game.

The highly anticipated clash is slated for September, 8th, 2018 at the MISC Karasani Stadium.

Ghana heads the Group with 3 points following their 5-0 thumping of Ethiopia at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in June 2017.
