“The menace”, Dennis Oliech has treated claims that he is broke and leading a miserable life with a loud laughter.
In a candid interview with Supersport’s Collins Okinyo, the former Mathare United, Nantes, Auxerre and Ajaccio forward has stated clearly that nothing could be further from the truth.
“That’s absolute gutter press stuff,” Oliech said.
“People want to make news using the name of Dennis Oliech, perhaps hoping to get a reaction and to get more readers but I’m sorry I have no time for them,”
A local website had this week sensationally reported that Oliech is selling his property and is back to the “ghetto” after squandering the big money he made while still at his peak playing in Asia and Europe.
“It’s totally absurd and ironical that visiting Dagoretti ( a Nairobi slum) is now referred to as being broke. I was born and bred in Dagoretti and throughout my career I have continued visiting and will never stop visiting the place,”
“I hear some people saying Oliech sold a house because he was broke and I laugh because as a businessman when you buy a house at Kshs 30M and you get an offer of Kshs 50M what do you do?” He paused.
Pressed further about his financial status, the former Harambee Stars skipper and Kenya’s blue eyed boy of football, made it clear that his future is secure through investments.
“I have not only invested but I have also helped so many people to start their own businesses across the country and I’m proud of that.” He concluded.
