Destination Guide for spectators ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Russia.

One of the host Stadium at this tournament is the Luzhniki Stadium which is the National Stadium of Russia and hosts matches for the Russia National Team.

The Stadium is located in capital city Moscow with a total seating capacity of 81, 000 making it the largest football stadium in Russia and one of the largest stadiums in Europe.

It is a part of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex, and is located in Khamovniki District of the Central Administrative Okrug of Moscow city.

The name Luzhniki is derived from the flood meadows in the bend of Moskva River where the stadium was built, translating roughly as “The Meadows”.

It has a field size of 105 by 68 metres with the surface made of grass.

The stadium was constructed in 1955 and was opened on 31 July 1956. This marvel has been renovated three times 1996-1997, 2001-2004, 2013-2017.

The construction of the stadium stands at €350 million.

The Stadium is expected to host 7 matches at the tournament, which includes the opening ceremony and subsequently the opening match on 14 June 2018 with hosts Russia facing Saudi Arabia.

In general it will host four group matches, one round of 16 match, one semifinal match and the final.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup runs from 14 June to 15 July 2018.
