THEY HOLD THE INITIATIVE- WIN ALL AND GET THE TITLE

The 2017 season is practically theirs for Zesco to let go. And if they don’t wrap it up will a huge disappointment for the fans and the club itself.

The Ndola outfit has the initiative in their hands and the only thing they have to do is win all their games and get the title.

They are third on the log one point behind second placed Green Buffaloes and four behind league leaders, Zanaco.

Zesco United need to focus on the league title where they trail and could only be a point behind leaders with a win on Sunday against relegation bound City of Lusaka at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Uncomfirmed reports are swelling around day by day that Zlat has been relieved of duty. Therefore the target of Tenant Chembo is to finish as high as possible and that high and possible is the top slot.

In any case the departure of Zlat would not be news to genuine followers of Zambian football. The Serbian has practically failed to live up the expectations of fans.

If they don’t win the title for a club that almost played the final of the CAF Champions league last season and lost out on the CAF Confederation Cup this season, then ejected in the Barclays Cup, will be a big disappointment. A team like Zesco with the personnel and resources they have at their disposal should be winning a trophy season after season. Agreed for has not absolutes.

Lifting season curtain raiser trophy in the form of shield should never be celebrated by Zesco and even any team for that matter.

Zesco United proved they do not lack leaders in their team by their resilience in beating Red Arrows and drawing against Power Dynamos even without the services of Zlat in the mid week.

I think it’s easy to hide behind ‘Zlat influence’ but the truth is it wasn’t Zlat but the team was flat footed for most parts of the season. You need to see behind the scenes how well the team works and how they operate. There is no excuse for not winning the title.

Whether with or without Zlat, Zesco United has the players.

Zesco United have had a difficult period where the team was losing and drawing and they have already lost six games in the super league and Zanaco and GBFC have lost fewer than the Ndola outfit… obviously you come to the situation where you play under pressure and need to find a way out and that is what will be expected towards the close of the 2017 season.

Following the mid-week fixture, Zesco United welcome City of Lusaka on Sunday in a week 26 rescheduled encounter and this is a game they don’t have to lose if they still have ambition of the league title.

They then play Kabwe Warriors at home in a week 30 rescheduled encounter before getting into the normal schedule with an away game in Lusaka against Nkwazi, were they have not have had it easy in the past.

After that Zesco will have three home games against Buildcon, Red Arrows and Mufulira Wanderers while plotting wins away to Forest Rangers and Green Eagles.

Once again, top four is not enough for Zesco United this time around but the title, even with the complaints against Referees. Zesco should win the title.
