The 60, 000 capacity, National Heroes Stadium will this term, for the first time since it’s erection, play hosts to Zambia Super league matches.

Lusaka Dynamos, one side that has benefited from the decision to expand the league from 18 to 20 teams–following their reinstatement after being demoted last season, has confirmed to utilize this beauty of the structure.

The decision to use this facility for domestic matches is long overdue. How so?

During the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup of the Nations, a South African Journalist, Valilie Mbuli posed a question: “James which club use this stadium [National Heroes Stadium] for their home matches?”

Mr Mbuli was left dismayed with my response to his question, which was “there nonentity”.

The National Heroes Stadium was heaped with so much praise when all the spot lights were at it during the U-20 AFCON.

Zambia Super league matches are on Africa’s premier broadcasting Supersport. Thus, beaming live pictures from the biggest stadium in this country every after one week, is good for the ratings.

Apart from implacable ratings for the league, this will also protect the infrastructure from turning into a white elephant and other sought of damages. So, Lusaka Dynamos Officials must be lauded for this decision.
