DR Congo came from behind to beat Guinea 3-1 and qualify to the Semifinals in an exciting Quarterfinal clash of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on Friday.
Guinea went ahead on 20 minutes after a penalty was awarded for Chancel Mbemba’s challenge on Mohamed Bayo.
Bayo stepped up to convert to put the Syli National in the lead.
However just 7 minutes later Chancel Mbemba made amends and drew the Leopards level with a well executed finish from a tight angle.
The two teams went into the half time break tied at 1-1.
DR Congo came out of the blocks pushing and were were awarded a penalty after Katompa Mvumpa was fouled in the box.
Yoane Wissa made it 2-1 after calmly slotting in from 12 yards.
Arthur Masuaku settled matters in the 82nd minute with a power free kick to make it 3-1.
The Leopards advanced to the Semifinals following a dominant performance where they will play the winners between Côte d’Ivoire and Mali.
