Former Gambia Football Association President Dr Ebrahim Malick Samba has passed away at the age of 84.
Dr Samba who was the GFF president between 1977-1978 represented the then organization in so various CAF congresses and meetings passed away on Thursday and was buried the following day in Banjul,Gambia.He was also former WHO Regional Director for Africa and President of Banjul Muslims Elders.
Current GFF President Lamin Kabba Bajo paid hommage and tribute to the former GFA Boss in a short statement yesterday.
‘We would like to express our profound and deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones and to all Gambians and none Gambians mourning the loss of a national and international citizen in the late Doctor Ebrima Malick Samba, former President of Gambia Football Association”,he said.
During his tenure Dr.Samba was a strong positive force in the promotion and development of football.His sincerity, humility and simplicity inspired by his excellent work ethic contributed to football development in the West Africa Nation.
Over the years, many across the nation admired and respected Dr. Samba not only for being an exemplary leader of the GFA, but most of his personal commitment and sacrifice to soccer.
The late Dr. Samba on so many occasions spent his money for the development of the game.
