Shirikisho la soka nchini Jamhuri ya Kidemokrasia ya Congo inasema, imeiondoa timu yake ya taifa yenye wachezaji wasiozidi umri wa 17 na 20 katika mashindano yote ya mwaka 2016 na 2017.
Shirikisho la soka barani Afrika CAF, limethibitisha kupokea ombi la FECOFA. Michuano ya Afrika ya mwaka 2017 itachezwa nchini Zambia na mechi za mzunguko wa kwanza, zimeratibiwa kuanza kuchezwa mwezi Aprili mwaka huu. Timu ya Taifa ya Burundi imefuzu katika mzungukzo wa pili kwa sababu jirani zao DRC wamejiondoa katika michuano hii. Burundi sasa imepangiwa kumenyana na Nigeria mwezi Juni mwaka huu katika mchuano wa nyumbani na ugenini kufuzu katika michuano hiyo. Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Rwanda na Uganda ni mataifa ya Afrika Mashariki na Kati yatakayoshiriki katika michuano hiyo. Mataifa nane, yakiongozwa na Zambia yatashiriki katika fainali hiyo. Aidha, DRC inasema vijana wake hawatashiriki katika michuano ya kufuzu kucheza fainali ya mwaka 2017 kwa vijana waisozidi miaka 17, fainali itakayopigwa nchini Madgascar. Shirikisho la soka nchini DRC halijasema ni kwanini, limeamia timu zao zisicheze katika fainali hizo mbili mwakani.
