In a bid to raise revenue for the club, Dynamos FC in partnership with Afhold Investiments and Consultancy have launched a water brand.
According to a joint statement released by the club and the manufacturer, the water brand will earn the club 65cents per bottle and will be made available in leading fast food giants, shops, restaurants, service stations, goverment departments, leading supermarkets, sports bars, night clubs and church functions.
Afhold Investiments and Consultancy who are the manufacturers expressed their delight, describing the new move as a way to see local football move forward.
“Fuelled by the desire and passion to see soccer move forward, our company have come up with this valuable project where Dynamos are set to benefit immensely. You will agree with us that Dynamos is the heartbeat of Zimbabwean soccer and when they catch a cold the whole football fraternity catches a cold,”reads the statement.
The company head of marketing Mr.Madhara on the same statement sent to media houses lamented the shortage of commercial opportunities in football, saying that soccer as a business was struggling to make ends meet due to complex issues to do with the business management side.
“Soccer is the most popular sport in the country. However, despite its popularity clubs are still finding it hard to make ends meet. This has partly been as a result of us the business community and the clubs failing to unlock the commercial opportunities within the sport. Piracy of team merchandise has also taken its toll on clubs and they have failed to enjoy economic benefits that could be derived from their brands,”reads part of the statement.
The water deal is expected to rack in up to hundred of thousand of dollars a year that will be pumped to develop the Harare giants.
