East African players record mixed results in European leagues

Several East African players recorded mixed results in different European leagues as several matches were played over the weekend.

 

On Saturday Kenya’s Paul Were had his side FC Kalloni move deep rooted at the Greece top tier after a  0-3  home loss at the hands of Panaitolikos, a loss that leaves them bottom with  15points after 26matches.

The same day in Belgium Second division, Lierse FC registered a morale 4-1away win at Patro Eiden to remain optimistic of escaping the relegation. It was however Eiden who scored first  in the 9th minute courtesy of Beniat Ladiere. Lierse parading among them Kenyan international Ayub Timbe quickly responded with goals from  Sabin Bongrea(10),a brace from Etiene Velikorgi in the 49th and 79th minutes before Manuel Berson completed the rout in the 87th minute.

 

 

 

On Sunday Kenya’s midfield maestro Johanna Omollo played a full 90 minutes as his team Royal Antwerp cemented their position at the top of the Belgian second tier with a 0-1 away victory at Roeselore. The win sees them move three Points clear of second placed WS Bruxelles  with a game at hand. Only four rounds of  Games  are remaining before the league winds up.

The same Sunday saw Tanzanian captain and soccer star Mbwana Ally Samatta  score a 24th min  opener for his club Racing Genk  as they beat Oestende  4-1 in an entertaining match where Leon Barley, Alejandro Pozuelo and Igor de Camargo added other goals for the 4-1 scoreline. This was Sammatta’s so on goal since  he joined from Congolese side TP Mazembe. 

 

 

Ugandan Farouk Miya got a rare start when he was brought in  the 46th minute for Darwin Andrade . but his entry could not stop Standard Liege as they stamped to a 4-0defeat at KV Michelen.

In Norway Kenyan international keeper Arnold Otieno Origi was in between the  posts as his side Lillestroem shared spoils with visiting Start in a 1-1 scoreline while in Portugal Ugandan Luwagga Kizito did not feature in Rio Ave 1-0 loss to Nacional.
