Zambia beat Malawi 3-0 to win their second Group B match of the 2016 Cosafa U-20 Championships at Moruleng Stadium in South Africa.
The goals were scored by Chrispine Sakulanda, Paston Daka and Fashion Sakala.
The Zambians opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Shemmy Mayembe found Chrispine Sakulanda from the right flank and he buried a low shot into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Malawi missed a clear chance three minutes later from a corner kick but Kennedy Kachimanga was harshly adjudged to have fouled goalkeeper Mangani Banda.
Musonda had a chance to double Zambia’s lead midway through the first half from a free-kick, but his shot was well saved by Malawi keeper Mikuwa.
Paston Daka scored Zambia’s second goal in the 73rd minute with a well-taken goal, picking a pass from Enock Mwepu delivery before stabbing the ball into the corner to make it 2-0.
Four minutes into the end second half Zambia scored as Enock Mwepu, who was again at the heart of the goal, heading on target from a well laid pass but Mikuwa couldn’t get to the ball and Fashion Sakala swept it home from close-range, 3-0.
Malawi created several scoring chances of their own, but they were unable to really test Mangani Banda. His only notable action was a comfortable save to keep out a free-kick from substitute Abel Mwakamali.
The result have eliminated Zimbabwe who are at the bottom of the group with no points.
