Eding FC of Lekie in Yaounde, Center Region and Lion Blesse of Foutouni in the West Region of Cameroon have qualified for the finals of the Cameroon Cup.
The two teams qualified after beating up their respective opponents through penalty kicks in the semi-finals matches staged last weekend in Yaounde.
On Saturday September 1, Lion Blesse thrashed Panthere FC of Nde 8-7 after penalty kicks to qualify for their first ever finals of the Cup of Cameroon. Both teams had registered a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes of regular time.
Eding of Sunday after a 1-1 draw within regular match time beat Unisport of Bafang by 6-7 goals after penalty kicks.
This is the first time that these clubs will be facing each other in the finals of the cup of Cameroon. At the league phase, Eding FC and Lions Blesse have clashed four times. Eding has registered two wins while Lions Blesse have only managed a win and a draw.
The 2018 finals resemble the 2000 finals where an elite one team will be facing an elite two team. Just like Kumbo Strikers FC, an elite One team took on Unisport of Bafang an elite two, Lions Blesse FC, an elite two team will be facing Eding FC who survive relegation from the elite one championship.
These two teams had difficult obstacles to the finals. Created in 2013 Lion Blesse eliminated two league one teams, two leagues two clubs and one amateur football club. Eding FC on it part kept a clean sheet in the current season. They eliminated defending champions, New Stars of Douala, Avion of Nkam and Coton Sport of Garoua.
The date of the highly awaited encounter is still to be announced and will be chaired by the President of the Republic. The winner will succeed last year winners, New Stars and will qualify for the CAF continental Competition.
