Egypt will be looking to get their hands on the third TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title when begin the campaign on home soil.
Egypt have been crowned champions on two previous occasions in 2003 when they beat Nigeria and in 2013 against Ghana. The Young Pharaohs are determined to get back to the top with the home crowd on their side.
Mahmoud Ghaber will be hoping his side can deliver the goods once the tournament begins on Sunday.
In the previous preparatory match, Egypt defeated South Sudan 1-0 with Abdel Rahman Rashdan scoring the lone goal from the penalty spot in the match that was held at the Military Academy Stadium.
The Egyptians will be looking for a successful campaign as this tournament will be used as a FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifier.

Egypt will always have some of the greatest talents on the continent and the planet. This tournament will definitely unveil more gems for the future. The hosts will rely on talents such as Nader Al-Sayed, Omar Fayed, Abdul Rahman Rashdan, Ahmed Reda, Muhammad Faris, Omar Al-Sa’i and Salah Pasha.
Egypt will play in Group A, alongside Mozambique, Senegal and Nigeria.
The U20 AFCON will kick off on 19 February and the final is set to take place on 11 March at the Cairo International Stadium.
