Ghanaian guardsman, Eli Keke says he was surprised to be named as the best player in the Icelandic lower division.

The 22 year old was voted the best player by the media following his stunning performances for Vikingur Olafsvik in the first round of the league.

In an exclusive chat with Soka25east.com, on Saturday, Eli opined, “I must say it took me by surprise but I’m much excited too as it has been a good season for me so far. I wouldn’t take anything from my teammates and other players competing in the league.”

He continued, “The second round has already started and i’m looking to improve upon my game and continue from where my team and i left off.”

When quizzed, if he is going to add up to his four goal tally, he stated, “I haven’t bagged four goals, but three (including a goal in the cup). So that makes it two goals in the league, and i’m looking to score if the opportunity offers itself. However as a defender for the team my focus is to keep a clean sheet and the goals come as an added incentive.”

Eli Keke signed for the Icelandic lower-tier side on a three year deal earlier this year from Ghana premier league side Dreams FC.

He played a key role to helping the Still Believe lads gain promotion back to the Ghanaian topflight league a year after they were demoted to National Division One League.
