Djoliba AC’s CAF Confederation Cup opponent Elwa United has officially confirmed their withdrawal from this year’s Africa’s secondary club football competition.
No reasons were given for the last minute decision, which was received at the Caf Cairo headquarters on Tuesday.
The Liberian FA Cup Champions had earlier reported their withdrawal from Africa’s Inter-Club competition on Monday after one of their officials informed the national radio of their unwillingness to partake in this year’s competition.
The withdrawal means that their Malian opponents are through to the next round, Caf has confirmed.
The situation means the Malien Premiere Division outfit will be waiting for the winner in the match between Rwanda’s APR and Anse Re-Union from Seychelles.
Joliba were painfully eliminated in the last edition after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Egypt’s Al Masry.
