Despite failing to record a win in their lasts three matches, left back Benjamin Francis has not given up on Enyimba’s chances of finishing the Nigeria Professional Football League on a high.
A draw and two losses in their last three have left Enyimba seventh in group A with four points from same number of matches.
Although Francis admits that the tally is far below the team’s high standard, the 25-year-old is certain that a turn around is on the horizon.
“Picking just four points from four matches is not good for us. I understand the frustration of the fans because they always want us to win. We (the players) also want to win because that’s what we came here to do. Every time we step on the pitch the only thing we want to do is play well and win, so I want the fans to be patient with us and continue to believe because the results will start coming soon.
“We also need luck on our side because we’ve been playing well, even in the games we failed to win. We’ve been creating the chance but we just haven’t been able to score. I think we need a bit of luck on our side.”
Francis, who was part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, also spoke on the commitment of the players and coaches towards ensuring improvement in results.
“We are already looking at how to make things work and we have to start from the training ground. We keep talking to ourselves about what we can do to get better. Everybody is working hard in training and that’s the attitude that we need right now.”
Enyimba will return to NFPL activities this Sunday with a home fixture against Rivers United.
