Fasil Kenema Coach Zimariam Woldegiorgis returned to the technical bench after a successful surgery in Thailand to oversee a 3-1 win away to Jimma Aba Bunna in Jimma, Sunday.
Three goals from Eferem Alemu, Solomon Gebremethin and Room Hosprouvi sealed the win, and a fourth place in the Ethiopian Premier League table standings with 11 points, and a game to spare.
The Emperors proved their dominace over the hosts – whom they beat 3-1 in the Super League Cup last season. The win also ended Jimma’s three-year unbeaten home record.
On Saturday, defending champions St. George finally broke three-match winless streak – beating Welayta Dicha 2-0 at Addis Stadium.
The horsemen managed to compose themselves, and got their rhythm early in the game with lovely neat passes.
Prodigy Abubaker Sani scored an early 6th minute goal to calm their nerves. Salhadin Said came close a couple of times in the half but couldn’t convert, as they carried the slim lead to the break.
Substitute Adane Girma doubled the lead in the 79th with a beautiful volley from Ramkel Lok’s assist to guarantee the three points.
