The 26-year-old made the world take notice of his talent during the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup and by that time he had not attained the dual nationality that could have made him ‘now play’ for his ‘adopted’country.
The attacker is Afro-Asian Colombian and has never played for Equatorial Guinea.
However, Equatorial Guinea Football Association has continued to explore options of convincing the player to play for the national team.
Sources close to Equatorial Guinea FA have disclosed that national team coach Casto Nopo intends to register the player in the national team having proccesed for him fake documents to show he was born and raised in the country.
Equatorial Guinea will be facing Gabon for the CHAN qualifiers next August with all indications that the Federation is rectruiting foreign players into the national team.
This has not been the first time that the Federation has been caught into “trouble.”
Equatorial Guinea FA was successful in 2015 in persuading another non-local youngster Franklina Bama Yongua to play for the national team.
This was under coach Andoni Goikoetxea who used the player in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and it was alleged by media back in his adopted country that the player used forged passport and was cleared by the world’s football governing body.
The AS Vita ace is also being plotted to be included into the national team though playing outside the country.
