Italian sports equipment company Errea on Tuesday signed a four-year contract with the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) as the official technical sponsor for national teams.
The function took place at the Italian embassy in Ethiopia and was attended by among others EFF boss Juneidi Basha.
In the deal renewable yearly, Errea becomes the official kits supplier of six Ethiopian national teams, with a promise of better improved terms depending on their performances. The six covered are; Senior men’s and women’s national teams (Walia Ibex and Lucy) and both U20 and U17 teams boys and girls.
The teams will get three sets of uniforms a piece, full track suits with shirts for traveling.
Each year, the Parma based company will supply 46 items including kits, armbands etc. worth Euros 90,000 for free while the federation will purchase kits worth Euros 50,000 per annum.
Further Errea will provide technical support to the national teams by organizing coaching clinics in collaboration with Italian coaches.
The company founded in 1988 will open its first shop in Africa in Addis Ababa with a keen eye on spreading its wings in other parts of the continent. The shop will sell replica jerseys to fans with royalties shared between the company and EFF.
On the evening, Errea presented the official uniform Walia Ibex win don this Saturday when they host Seychelles in their last AFCON 2017 qualifier in Hawassa City.
Speaking during the function, Basha promised that subsequent designs will capture Ethiopia’s taste and culture.
