Esperance de Tunis are the 2017/18 Tunisian Ligue 1 champions for a record 28th time with three matches to spare.
The Blood and Gold as the Tunis giants are famously known bagged the title, which is their second in two seasons on Sunday following a 1-0 win over Metlaoui at home.
Youssef Belaili netted the decisive goal in the 31st to secure the coach Khalid Ben Yahia’s side their 17th league win of the season.
The victory coupled with a 1-1 draw for second placed Club Africain against CO Medenine ensured that Esperance opened unassailable 12 points gap between them and the closest chasers.
Esperance have now won the Tunisia’s topflight 15 more times than their arch rivals Club Africain, who boasts 13 accolades.
