An Ethio-American “Naomi Girma” to lead the USA U-17 women’s National team as a captain in the world Cup.

Ethio-American center back Naomi Girma is expected to captain USA U17 ladies team in the Jordan 2016 World Cup starting Friday.

Naomi, 16, was born in the USA to an Ethiopian father Girma Aweke and Ethiopian mother Seble Demissie in San-Jose,USA,in 2000.

She started playing football at a tender age of 5 at Ethiopian community get-together club called “Maleda”.

At age 9,she Joined Central Valley Crossfire and since then she has become a hot property and a talented player.

The speedy center back is USA’s future hope in women’s football. In an interview with American Soccer TV, she expressed pride as the first Ethiopian descendant to represent USA in such a tournament and she is sure about being a role model for Ethiopian generation who are born In USA to be as succesful as her.

USA is to in Group D in the U-17 world cup with Ghana,paraguay,Japan. In the tournament,Ethiopian International referee Lidya Taffesse will represent Africa.
