The “Red Foxes” of Ethiopia are through to the last round of the CAF U17 AFCON qualifiers after a 2-1 home win against Egyptian little Pharaohs on Sunday.

A brace from Abubeker Nesir in Dire Dawa City sealed the next round spot for the Coach Atenafu Alemu’s prodigies on 5-2 aggregate.

Nesir opened the scoring early in the 11th minute, a lead that lasted into the first interval.

He grabbed a brace in the 50th minute for a comfortable 2-0. The little Pharaohs never lost hope as they continued to press forward, and ten minutes to regulation time, Yesuf pulled the consolation to end the tie 2-1 in favor of the hosts.

In another qualifier, Tanzania’s Serengeti Boys dispatched visiting South Africa 2-0 to also book a spot in the next phase.

Eight teams will make it to Madagascar next year for the championship.
