There were wild celebrations in Addis Ababa as Ethiopia Bunna also know as Coffee upset their bitter arch rivals St.George 1-0 in an entertaining match played at the national stadium in Addis Ababa on Sunday afternoon.
It was a match laced with so much statistics but the first half was a see saw affair that saw both sides fire from all cylinders trying to get the elusive goals in a game that saw six yellow cards in total and a red card for for Tilahun Wolde.
The decisive moment came in the 51st minute when youngster Aschalew Girma beautiful chip over oncoming Ugandan keeper Robert Odongkara gave Buna the deserved lead to the wild cheers from their fans who had been very optimistic before the game .
Fitsum Gebremariam could have put St.George on equal terms but missed an important penalty in the 82nd minute as Bunna held on to the slim win that help push them to sixth in the league table while despite the loss St.George remained third on the table.
The derby is one of the fiercest in Africa and has been nicknamed the Sheger Derby while some call it the Addis Ababa Derby.
St.George is one of the most glomorous clubs in Ethiopia with a rich history.
