Ethiopia national team coach Ashenafi Bekele has reportedly written to the Ethiopian Football Federation informing them of his intention to resign next month for “interference.”

According to a source, Ashenafi, who succeeded Gebremethin Haile as the “Walia Ibex” boss in February this year, summoned 24 players to camp in Adama town for their 2018 CHAN qualifying match against Sudan, however the team leader insisted on only 18 camping.

The 18 excludes 6 St. George players who were engaged in the CAF Champions League with the club and did not play away to Djibouti in the penultimate round of the CHAN qualifiers.

The former Adama City coach has since called up center back Aschalew Tamane and will be paying for his accommodation.

Ashenafi takes seriously the interferences with his work and has reportedly tendereed his resignation notice. In his contract, he is supposed to give a two-month notice of resignation.

The team will be camping in Adama town, 100KM east of Addis Ababa.
