Ethiopia will face Rwanda in a two-legged faceoff for the final slot in the 2018 Morocco CHAN.
With the tournament’s initial hosts Kenya having been stripped off the rights, Egypt were handed their position but the North Africans declined the offer.
CAF gave back the opportunity to East Africa to be contested between Ethiopia and Rwanda with the winner joining Uganda as the region’s representatives at the finals.
The first leg will be played on 5th November in Ethiopia with the return leg coming six days later in Kigali on 12th.
Uganda eliminated Rwanda 3-2 on aggregate in the final round qualifiers in August to book a berth in the biennial championship for the third time on the trot.
Ethiopia on the other hand were kicked out by Sudan 2-1 on aggregate.
Rwanda coach Antoine Hey has summoned his team to camp Sunday to begin preparations for the playoff.
The team will put up at La Palisse Hotel in Nyandungu before training proper from 30th October to 2nd November.
Rwanda graced the last edition of the tournament which they hosted in 2016 – reaching quarters where they got eliminated by the eventual winners the DRC.
