Ethiopia Football Federation(EFF) has appointed Haile Gebremedhin as interim coach to take over from sacked Yohannes Sahle Soka25east.com can reveal.
The defense(Mekelakeya) coach will be incharge for the remaining 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles and Lesotho.
A top official of the federation who sort anonymity intimated to Soka25east.com that they had settled for the tactician because of his pedigree and experience “Its true Gebremedhin as been appointed as the interim coach pending futher resolutions.He will be in charge of the the national team for the remaining two matches before the executive committee meets to decide on the next course of action”he said
Gebremedhin a former Ethiopian striker has won the Ethiopian cup twice with Defense since 2011 . Gebremedhin is known for his exceptional footballing skills and scoring records both at club competitions and at the national level, particularly on the occasion of the famous CECAFA 1987 win in Addis that Ethiopia attained after a long spell at the continental level without any victories .
Geremedhin played for the ‘Best of Tigray State’ for two years, for Bahir Dar Textiles for another two years and above all for St. George Club for 10 years and it is this last club that made him very famous and characterized his entire professional profile and life.
It is at St.George that he acquired all the glory and fame that any footballer could ever be ordained with. It is from his great prowess that he was selected for the National Team Ethiopia Walia Ibex played for seven years.
Gebremedhin Haile is not only a great versatile sportsman who has played even at the national level beside football basket ball and tennis but he is also a very simple, modest and sociable person who never prides on his successes nor boasts for them.
He is ready and willing to talk to anyone and has great respect for his admirers and fans in general. It is a great pleasure to have.
