Ethiopia government seems to have made up their mind on hosting the Afcon 2017 with a firm commitement made by Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen after a meeting with CAF President Issa Hayatou.
The confirmation comes at an important time as Ethiopia football federation (EFF) Prepares its bid ahead of the September 30th deadline.
CAF President Issa Hayatou met both Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and his Deputy Mekonnen on Friday in Addis Ababa.
” Ethiopia has the capacity to host the Africa Cup of Nations and is ready to discharge any responsibility regarding this great football tournament. Ethiopia is undertaking activities which will enable it host the Africa Cup of Nations through partnership with the football federation and its important our discussions with Hayatou revolved around supporting the growth of Ethiopian football which has been on a high”Demeke Said
On his part President Issa Hayatou said CAF would be happy to give Ethiopia the chance to host the Cup, as long as it all meets the preconditions at the same time lauding the Ethiopian government commitement towards the 2017 bid.
