FT Sudan U-23 2-0 Ethiopia U-23. [Agg. 4-1]
Ethiopian fans were once again hearbroken as their Under 23 side was eliminated from the All African Games Qualifiers by Sudan in Khartoum after a disappointing home loss that saw them succumb to a depressing 3-1.
The Ethiopian U-23 national team had departed to Sudan on Wednesday for the All African Games Qualifier which was played on Friday hoping for better tidings but this run from bad to worse seeing the young lads knocked out in the early stages of the competition.
Sudan had earlier beaten Ethiopia3-1 in the 1st leg game played in Dire Dawa but the return leg away in Khartoum was no better as Sudan won by a solitary goal scored by Mohammed Mukhtar as early as the 3rd minute to seal an important win for the host as they progressed and will face South Africa in the next round of All African Games Qualifiers.
The loss had a heavy bearing on coach Mariano Barreto who failed to steer the team just months after the senior team Walia was also knocked out from the 2015 Afcon qualifiers.
