Impressive Ethiopia Walia Ibex fought gallantly to a 1-1 draw against hosts Club Gama in an international friendly played on Saturday night in Brazil.
Ethiopia who are in Brazil for a series of friendly matches lost their first match 1-0 last week but coach Mariano Barreto executed several changes that brought more impetus to the team.
Club Gama broke the deadlock via a penalty converted superbly by Viola before New call up Dawa Hotessa for equalized with a fine goal that put Ethiopia level against their tough opponents playing in front of their passionate fans.
Ethiopia play the third friendly tomorrow Monday before playing another friendly on Wednesday.
Coach Mariano Barreto was impressed with the performance coming straight after two losses in his first two games in charge
“The players showed great characte and determination as they have been improving in each match we have played. It is work in progress and hopefully by the time the qualifiers start we will be in great shape having learnt a lot in our training camp in Brazil which had been very important for our preparations”Mariano Barreto told Soka25east.com
