Ethiopia Walia Ibex coach Yoahnnes Sahle was impressed by his charges’ 1-1 draw with Niger in a pre Chan friendly played at National Stadium in Addis Ababa on Saturday evening.
However Sahle has insisted that he still needs to put emphasis on certain areas to ensure mistakes are eliminated.
“Our draw with Niger in the pre Chan friendly was not a bad result. The game gave us an opportunity to take a closer look at the players and their different responses and as the technical bench we are happy we have seen the strengths and weaknesses and we hope to make amends ahead of Chan,” Sahle told supersport.com.
“I am happy with the determination of the playing unit and as long as they can follow the instructions then we will have a good time in Rwanda. Niger were a formidable side and gave use a lot to learn from. We will continue with our preparations to ensure we go to Kigali in tip top form,” Sahle added.
Ethiopia came from a goal down to hold Niger in a tough game that could have gone either way. Idrissa Halidou Garba put Niger ahead in the 8th minute through a wonderful effort outside the box beating Walia Ibex keeper Abel Mamo.
The game went to the break with visitors Niger leading 0-1 but upon resumption Ethiopia Walia Ibex pilled pressure but it was only until the dying minutes of the game that they were rewarded a penalty after a Niger player handled the ball in the box.
Midfielder Gatoch Panom stepped up to level the scores from the penalty spot beating keeper Soumalia with a low but hard shot.
