Ethiopia Walia Ibex coach Mariano Barreto is worried with the many injuries that have cropped up in the team ahead of do or die clash with Mali ahead of their Afcon 2015 qualifer.
Barreto also rued missing out on friendly match to prepare the team ahead of the clash as he noted that he was not happy with the training at the artificial Abebe Bikila stadium because the national Stadium was not prepared well in time.I had talked to the federation about the need of a friendly match but the same was not effected on time meaning we will go to the match against Mali without any preparation friendly”Mariano Barreto exclusively told Soka25east.com
“I have not got the important support like getting video tapes for Mali so i have been depending on friends so that i can analyze them ”
Mariano also rued the lack of playing time for local players in top local clubs a case he pointed out as one of the hindrance to player development “As you know better than me, in Ethiopian clubs in Key positions, the clubs are using foreign player thus it limits football actions for the local players supposed to be in the national team But we will survive”Mariano added
Ethiopia lost their first two matches 1-2 to visiting Algeria and 3-2 away to Malawi and will need to win both their home matches if they have any chance of qualifying for Afcon 2015.
