Ethiopian giants St.George also known as Kidus Giorgis suffered a suprise 1-2 loss falling to Defense (Mekelakeya) in an Ethiopia Football Federation Cup match played on Tuesday afternoon.
Veteran Adane Girma broke the deadlock for St.George with a fine goal as early as the 4th minute but the goals seemed to have inspired Defense who fought tooth and nail getting the deserved equalizer in the 38th minute through Addisu Yesfaye .
The game went into the break with both sides levelled at 1-1 and both firing from all cylinders.
Upon resumption Defense came back the stronger side taking the lead after 15 minute courtesy of a Behailu Girma beautiful goal in the 6th minute to the suprise of the St.George defenders who were caught napping as they scores stood at 1-2 in favour of the visitors.
St.George tried to pile pressure mounting counter attacks but the stable Defense defenders thwarted all moved by frustrating all efforts from the star studded St.George.
The loss to Defence had alot of connotations on St.George head coach Martin Koopman who lost His First Match As St George Head Coach since being appointed.
