Ethiopian Coffee will not extend the contract of Coach Dragan Popadic. The Serbian’s one year deal expired at the end of the 2015/16 season and both parties have chosen to part ways amicably.
The 70 years old who replaced Tilahun Magesha managed a second place finish behind Kidus Giorgis despite faltering in the first half of the Ethiopian Premier League.
He was the first foreign Coach in the 41 years history of Coffee and his replacement could still be a foreigner from either Serbia or Netherlands.
Report indicates the decision not to continue at Coffee was informed by his failing health.
Coffee Board of Management has prepared a good bye party for him on Saturday.
Born in Belgrade, Dragan Popadic played his footballing career in defensive position. He has a vast knowledge in African Football managing several clubs in Africa including in countries like Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Angola and Ghana.
Among his achievements are the Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Cup winner with Tanzanian side Simba SC, won the Ugandan Super League title with Express Kampala, National Cup Angola winner with Petro Atletico Luanda.
