Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has adopted the FIFA Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) for both men and women’s game.

EFF becomes the fourth African federation to embrace the system for the men’s game and the first to apply the same for the women’s game that is fast rising in the country.

The federation’s IT Expert Michael Emiru hailed the move as timely and in tandem with their vision of developing the Ethiopian Premier League into one of the best in Africa.

“Ethiopian Football Federation adopted the FIFA Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) for men’s football starting October 2017 and for women’s since February 2018.

“DTMS will help us improve transfers management and governance by building on the existing International Transfer Matching Systems (ITMS),” Michael told Soka25east.

He added: “The system will protect our clubs from fraud transfers and at the same time give a well-organized platform for the players to defend themselves in cases of disagreements over transfer related issues.

“Through the system both the federation and clubs will now have the ability to manage and monitor their domestic transfer activities and generate statistics and reports, speed up the transfer process and store required documents online safely.”

In another related development, EFF is about to rollout e-ticketing at various stadiums across the country starting with Addis Stadium.

“We are almost ready to implement e-ticketing at our stadiums. The company that took the contract will first implement the system at Addis Ababa Stadium on a pilot basis in the coming league and international matches before spreading to other stadiums across the country,” Michael disclosed.

He is optimistic that the ongoing digitization programme will proceed regardless of the outcome of the forthcoming EFF elections.

“EFF staff is not elected by the General Assembly but are employees of the FA. Whoever is elected, the digitization process will go on as scheduled. I am sure all the candidates are eager to put Ethiopia’s league on top of Africa.”
