Ethiopian international Gatouch Panom has terminated his contract with Russia’s top division outfit Anzhi Makachakala for lack of play time.
Panom, 22, signed a three-year-deal to join the Dagestan State based side from Ethiopia Bunna of the Ethiopian Premier League in June this year.
The moved was roundly hailed as he became the first Ethiopian to play topflight football in Europe.
But Panom only played in the Russian Cup and never featured in the league despite making the bench. He however played in the youth league.
He has hinted at a move back to Europe, but according a source, the player has been contacted by Addis Ababa giants St. George FC for a possible deal.
Very few Ethiopian players have graced the lucrative European leagues.
Currently only former Ethiopian Nigid Bank player Benyam Belay remains with Albanian side Skenderbu.
