African Football icon and Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o has announced that his Foundation will donate relief packages to 100, 000 people in his home country Cameroon to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Eto’o has revealed that through the Samuel Eto’s foundation, he will “share soaps, sanitisers and several food items to fifty thousand households in four cities – Douala, Buea, Yaoundé and Bafoussam.”

An additional 50,000 protective face masks will also be supplied – specifically for taxi drivers in the country.

A statement from the Foundation read, “This is a serious humanitarian crisis and only via proper sanitisation and the distribution of health kits can we curb the coronavirus.”

Cameroon’s corona virus cases stand at 996 infected with 22 deaths and 164 recovered. Cameroon’s government has closed its borders in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

Many households are finding it hard to cope with the pandemic and the former Barcelona striker has come forward to help cushion the economic effects Covid-19 might have on the vulnerable households.
