The African football governing body’ spokesman, Junior Binyam has revealed the period, when the CAF 5-years ranking are conducted.

The seasoned Jounalist from Cameroon was speaking to Soka25east.com in an exclusive interview from his base in Cairo, Egypt.

Binyam said, the CAF 5-years ranking are usually made by the competitions department and Football Associations across Africa are notified upon submitting names of their clubs to participate in a particular year.

“The ranking is usually made by our colleagues of competitions and shared with FAs when the engagements for interclub competitions are open,” said Junior Binyam.

He estimated the precisely period as around september and also clarified that, points earned by national leagues this year will not be considered.

“It is around the month of september. The results of the current year are not considered in the ranking. Those that will be considered are the results from 2012-2016,” said Junior Binyam.

CAF 5-years ranking is criteria used by CAF to allocate slots to each national league. Points are earned by making it to the group stages, until the final. Top 12 ranked national leagues are eligible to field four clubs.
