By Bonface Osano,
Bobby Williamson has decided to rest keeper Boniface Oluoch who played against “Red Devils” of Congo last weekend in the AFCON 2017 qualifier match and in his place flamboyant Wycliffe Kasaya will take up the number one jersey.
Kenya’s Harambee Stars takes on Walia Ibex of Ethiopia in the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) away match at the Bahir Dar Stadium from 4PM EAT.
Kenya settled for a one all draw against Congo, conceding a penalty in the 37th minute after defender Jackson Saleh handled the ball inside the box, winger Paul Were scored for Stars in the 10th minute.
Bonny failed to properly command his defense, showing nervousness in the better part of the encounter and the decision for his replacement does not come as a surprise.
AFC Leopards duo of Edwin Wafula and Jackson Saleh, Tusker’s Lloyd Wahome and Aboud Omar will complete the defense, while the midfield will be marshaled by skipper Collins “Gattuso” Okoth of Gor Mahia, Humphrey Mieno and Kevin Kimani of Tusker and Benard Mang’oli of AFC Leopards.
The attack will be spearheaded by Noah Wafula of AFC Leopards and mercurial youngster Michael “Midusa” Olunga of Gor Mahia.
Noah Wafula, Michael Olunga, Kevin Kimani, Aboud Omar, Jackson Saleh and Collins Okoth all played in the Congo match and they will be expected to utilize the experience gathered to propel Stars past their worthy opponents Ethiopia.
The Final Squad:
Wycliffe Kasaya (GK), Jackson Saleh, Edwin Wafula, Aboud Omar, Lloyd Wahome, Collins “Gattuso” Okoth (Cpt), Benard Mang’oli, Humphrey Mieno, Kevin Kimani, Noah Wafula and Michael “Midusa” Olunga.
Subs: Boniface Oluoch, Brian Birgen, Charles Odette, Eric Johana, Ali Abondo, Timonah Wanyonyi, Jesse Were and Stephen Wakanya.
